The President of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) and former Lord Mayor of Kampala, Erias Lukwago, has reportedly been abducted from his home in Wakaliga under unclear circumstances, according to accounts from his family.
His wife, Nalongo Zawedde Lubwama, said the incident occurred on Monday morning when armed operatives allegedly arrived at their residence shortly after Lukwago raised an alarm on social media about a security presence outside their home.
She stated that Lukwago was taken without being presented with a legal summons and was reportedly bundled into a Toyota HiAce vehicle, commonly referred to locally as a “drone,” before being driven away to an unknown location.
The circumstances surrounding the reported abduction, including the reason for his detention and his current whereabouts, remain unclear. Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident, and no details have been confirmed about any legal case connected to his detention.
The incident has raised concern among supporters and observers, who are calling for clarity on his status and urging authorities to provide information about the grounds for his removal and detention.
Further updates are expected as investigations into the situation continue.
