St. Balikuddembe S.S. Kisoga Community Celebrates Kabaka Mutebi’s 71st Birthday, Praises His Impact

Sr. Maria Harriet Kaitesi, a teacher at the school, also praised the Kabaka for his contribution to the growth of Uganda’s education system through the establishment and support of all eduation institutions at all levels—from primary to university and tertiary institutions.

The community of St. Balikuddembe Senior Secondary School in Kisoga, Ntenjeru-Kisoga Town Council, Mukono District, has joined the rest of Buganda in celebrating the 71st birthday of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

Led by the school headteacher, Lydia Lukwago Kagoya, the staff and students commended the Kabaka for his significant contribution to the development of Buganda, particularly in the sectors of health, education, and agriculture.

Kagoya noted that the school has directly benefited from the Kabaka’s education initiatives. “We are beneficiaries of the Kabaka Education Fund. For several years, we have received students under this program, and we are equipping them with skills that are helping them progress well,” she said.

She also expressed gratitude for the Kabaka’s life and leadership. “We thank the Almighty God for enabling the Kabaka to reach this milestone of 71 years. We pray that he lives longer,” Kagoya added.

The deputy headteacher, Charles Kato Nsubuga Ssekato, highlighted the Kabaka’s role in promoting public health. He emphasized the Kabaka’s continued advocacy on key health issues, including efforts to end the spread of new HIV/AIDS infections by 2030.

“In the fight against HIV, the Kabaka called upon men to take a leading role, and many of us took this message seriously. It is one of the key teachings we continue to pass on to students during school assemblies,” Ssekato said.

Duncan Muwanga, the patron of the school’s Baganda Nkobazambogo club, said that during Kabaka Mutebi’s reign, children and youth have developed a deeper understanding of Buganda’s cultural heritage, including clans, norms and traditions. He noted that this has strengthened their connection to their identity and loyalty to the Kabaka.

Madrine Nabukenya, another teacher, commended the Kabaka for his advocacy in protecting women and girls. She pointed to his support in addressing health challenges such as fistula and sickle cell disease, as well as raising awareness in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
