According to the allegations, Ssozi presented himself as the owner of the land and, together with Muhammed, allegedly forged land sale agreements which were issued to some of the victims.
The Luwunga Village chairman, Muwonge Muhammed, and Ssozi Abdalla have been arraigned before the Mukono Magistrates Court over several counts of alleged land-related crimes and other offences.
The two were arrested and charged by the Anti-Corruption Court, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). They were remanded until August 26, 2026.
Prosecution alleges that between October and November 2025, in Luwunga Village, Nama Sub-county, Mukono District, the accused unlawfully entered land comprised in Block 167, Plot 81, Kyaggwe.
The disputed land measures approximately 311 acres and is registered in the names of Kiwanuka Stella, the administrator of the estate of the late Kiwanuka Joseph Musanze.
According to the allegations, Ssozi presented himself as the owner of the land and, together with Muhammed, allegedly forged land sale agreements which were issued to some of the victims.
The pair joins Kayongo Bonniface and Kiseka Hamuza, who were earlier charged and remanded in connection with similar allegations involving the disputed land.
The accused are further alleged to have stolen property belonging to several occupants of the land, including metallic water tanks and water pumping machines.
They are also accused of causing extensive damage to houses and destroying crops on the contested land.
The allegedly destroyed crops include maize, cassava, sweet potatoes, sugar cane, tomatoes, banana plantations and eucalyptus trees, with the total value of the damaged property estimated at approximately Sh1 billion.
The accused will remain on remand pending their next court appearance on August 26, when the matter is expected to come up for further proceedings.
