Over 200,000 residents of Kasokoso in Nakawa Division occupying about 465 acres and who have been having sleepless night over threats of forceful eviction by police have been rescued after intervention of President Museveni, who directed that the land under question belongs to the residents and not the police.
The President’s eviction reversal order was read to residents at Kasokoso beach by the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, and it read in part that come rain come shine, nobody would ever dare to dislodge them from their land.

Over 200,000 residents in five zones of Bbanda I, Kinnawataka, Kireka D, Kiganda and Kasokoso have been engaged in running battles with police teams, and some were successfully displaced in operations that saw some residents lose their lives.
In his statement read by the Premier, Museveni said that when he was inspecting performance of Emyooga SACCOs and PDM projects in the area, some residents told him that they have been subjected to inhuman eviction with some of their houses demolished by the National Housing and Construction Corporation (NHCC) in a brutal manner; he said he had never been briefed about the matter.
He clarified that residents should be assisted by relevant authorities to get a development plan and thereafter be issued with titles confirming ownership of their land.
