Charles Kyagaba, the notorious land grabber, appearing before court during prosecution proceedings.

The High Court Criminal Division has sentenced notorious Wakiso-based land grabber Charles Kyagaba to eight years in prison after finding him guilty on two counts of obtaining money by false pretences.

According to court records, Kyagaba was handed a four-year sentence on each count, with the sentences set to run consecutively, bringing the total jail term to eight years.

Kyagaba, alongside accomplices who remain at large, had for years allegedly terrorised residents of Wakiso District, particularly in Entebbe, through fraudulent land dealings. Prosecutors told court that Kyagaba’s group would falsely claim ownership of properties belonging to unsuspecting residents before selling the land to innocent buyers.

The fraudulent scheme reportedly left several families displaced and caused significant financial losses to victims who unknowingly purchased contested land.
