All Senior Six candidates of Ntare School have been indefinitely suspended by the school management after exhibiting high levels of indiscipline last night.

Today’s morning, the school management called for Police deployment from Mbarara Central Police Station to escort the students as they were ordered to vacate the school premises in less than 20 minutes.

The indefinite suspension is likely to affect the candidates who have been in their last bits preparing for their final Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education UNEB exams.

Most of the students did not have room to call their parents to pick them as they were seen boarding taxis and bodabodas.

Following the letter dated October 3, 2023, from the school headteacher, Saul Rwampororo, last night, the students of Senior Six exhibited high levels of indiscipline whereby they destroyed school property worth millions of money.

Among the destroyed property is the school’s recently installed CCTV cameras around the school compound.

However, the headteacher’s letter does not explain the actual cause of the strike that sparked off the students to act the way they did.

“The board of governors will subsequently sit to assess the damage and chart a way forward,” Rwampororo’s letter reads.

In a phone interview with the media, Rwampororo confirmed that last night, two students of Senior Six were found with mobile phones which he said is against the school’s rules and regulations.

“When we expelled the two students, the rest of the Senior Six protested our move saying we cannot expel their colleagues. They ended up destroying some of the school properties including windows and CCTV camera systems. We were left with no option but to send them home,” the headteacher revealed.

About when the students will return back to school, Rwampororo said that the organs of the school shall first sit and decide.
