The Police have killed two armed robbers in separate gun fire exchanges in Otuke district and Busia district. The Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga says police carried out two separate deadly operations, where they managed to put out of action two notorious robbers during a gun fire exchange and recovered two guns.
“The anti–robbery team in Busia, on September 25, 2023, at around 2:30pm, pursued a notorious robber, identified as Kuddu Ashraf alias Mr. X, after an armed robbery, where he shot and injured Najjuuko Prossy, a money exchange dealer at Arubaine market,” he said.
He adds: “Police swiftly responded and surrounded the robber at Maweru East “B” in Busia district. He was fatally wounded during a fire exchange. An SMG with 16 rounds, cash Ugx 21,175,000, Kshs 612,005 and phones were all recovered pending handover to the victim.”
Police managed to rescue Najjuuko and rushed her to Busia Health Centre IV for treatment. And in another incident in Otuke district, the Joint Anti-robbery team of the police and UPDF, responded to an armed robbery at Agweng cell, Owinyo ward on September 26, 2023 at around 9:00pm and put him out of action.
Police identified the deceased as Ouni Norman Kaunda, a notorious robber, who was also wanted for theft of a gun.An SMG was recovered with 6 rounds, 24 bullets missing.
“We strongly believe the recovery of the two guns from the hands of violent criminals will bring some bit of peace and safety in the respective communities. Our intelligence led operations on illegal possession of firearms remain active and on-going,” Enanga said.
