Clerk to Parliament, Adolf Mwesige, presided over the oath-taking ceremonies for both MPs, signaling heightened attention to their safety and circumstances.

In an unusual departure from tradition, Moses Ali, the Member of Parliament for Adjumani West County, was among a select few MPs who took their parliamentary oath inside the Parliament Conference Hall rather than at the usual parliamentary pulpit.

Moses Ali is facing health challenges that have made him unfit to follow the usual parliamentary protocols while taking the oath, unlike the other legislators. Due to his ill health, the retired army general was reportedly advised by his doctors to take a leave of rest and consider retiring from active politics, but he looked down on the advice.

The other MP to receive this special accommodation was Enos Asiimwe of Kabula County, who earlier this year survived a brutal attack in Lyantonde District, leaving him with severe injuries.

The rest of the MPs followed the traditional process, taking their oaths at the parliamentary pulpit. The decision to hold a separate ceremony for Moses Ali and Enos Asiimwe underscores Parliament’s flexibility in addressing the security and wellbeing of its members.
