The media fraternity in Uganda has started the New Year with sad news of the death of one of them, a Senior Investigative Journalist, Risdel Kasasira who has perished in a road accident.
The yet to be confirmed information shows that Kasasira died in a road accident with his family members in Lyantonde district.
Kasasira has been an investigative journalist with more than 17 years’ experience. For the last 14 years, his work has focused on regional security, climate and politics.

He has been based in Kampala but his journalism work goes beyond Uganda. He is currently a Senior Writer and Partner at East African Centre for Investigative Reporting, a non-profit investigative journalism media house.
He has previously worked as a reporter at Daily Monitor newspaper and also as stringer with Associated Press in Uganda. With support from the Africa Investigative Journalism Conference, he recently investigated the illegal sale of blood to expectant mothers in Ugandan hospitals, which is a barrier to the government’s efforts to deliver maternal health services.
He also recently conducted an in-depth analysis of the political and security implications of the presence of the East Africa Community Regional Force in DR Congo which was deployed in the eastern part of the country to bring stability.
