Kira Chief Magistrate, Shallon Niwaha has convicted a 35-year-old housemaid, Precious Tumuhirwe for torturing a 4-year-old girl.
Tumuhirwe has been convicted following her own plea of guilty as a result of the evidence presented before court which was captured on a video clip while torturing Claire Tumwekwase. She has therefore been sentenced to 40 years in jail.
She committed the offence on December 27, 2024 at Kikoko Zone in Namataba Cell, Kirinya Ward in Kira Municipality, Wakiso district. She beaten and injured the minor as she was captured on video which later went viral leading to her arrest.
She was employed as a housemaid and after committing the crime she fled the scene to her home Kabale District where she was apprehended and charged accordingly.
Court has been informed that the victim is still receiving treatment at Nsambya Hospital.

Court has learnt that the victim’s father, Micheal Mwesigwa, a 35-year-old resident of Kikonko-Kirinya, had been the primary caregiver for his children following a separation with their mother two years ago.
The suspect, who had been employed as a housemaid for four years, was brought in through a recommendation from mutual acquaintances in Kabale District.
