Police in Busoga North have arrested a private security supervisor following the circulation of a viral video showing a security guard being assaulted by two men.
The suspect has been identified as Warom Joseph, a supervisor with Securex Private Security Company. He is alleged to have assaulted Ayub Mbadi, a fellow Securex security guard deployed at Kidera Sugar Works in Buyende District.
According to preliminary police investigations, Mbadi had reportedly been apprehended by Joseph on allegations that he had stolen scrap materials from the sugar factory. It was during the incident that the alleged assault took place.
Joseph is currently in police custody and is expected to face charges of assault as investigations continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police have reiterated that allegations of wrongdoing should be addressed through lawful procedures and that no individual has the right to take the law into their own hands.
Authorities are continuing with investigations to determine the circumstances leading to the confrontation and establish whether other individuals were involved.
