Thugs in UPDF Uniforms Kidnap, Kill School Director

“They were stopped by four men clad in UPDF uniforms where one was holding a gun and they told them they were searching for a lost gun. They told them they were to be driven to Mukono Police Station but instead they drove to a different direction,” said one of the local leaders at Namumira Cell where the body of the deceased was dumped.

The Police in Mukono are looking for an unspecified number of murderers who on Tuesday waylaid a a school director travelling from a burial in Mbale, drove him from Nsuube cell to Kyungu in Mukono Central Division, Mukono Municipality, where they killed him.

According to police sources, Rotarian Godfrey Wayengera (45), a resident of Nsuube village and staff of Compassion Uganda, was travelling with a another person in the car, Najabi Christine when they were ambushed by men dressed in UPDF uniforms.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango said that after murdering Wayengera, they drove the woman, a teacher to Jinja Misindye, Goma Division, and dumped her there. She was later taken for medical treatment by rescuers.

Wanyengera’s body was taken to Mulago City mortuary for post mortem examination while the vehicle they were travelling in, a TOYOTA Fielder registration number UBP 520 A was recovered from Jinja Misindye and driven to Police.

Wanyengera is the director of Beloved Daycare and Nursery School located at Nsuube and the head of laity, Nsuube parish.

It is alleged that he landed into an ambush at Nsuube near the camp for CCCC, a construction company, just a few meters to their home.

Henry Lukomu, the chairperson for Namumira Cell decried the increased insecurity in the area saying it is characterized by murders, robbery and house breakings.
