In what seems to be a direct implementation of his manifesto foreign policy agenda, American President Donald Trump has imposed a ban on nationals from 12 countries, to allegedly take control of the US security situation, and slammed a boycott on seven others.

In a rather unexpected turn of events, the American President also signed an order banning all foreign students from pursuing their studies in the US.

Trump on Thursday night endorsed an executive order banning nationals from Chad, Somalia, Congo Brazzaville, Libya, Equatorial Guinea, Sudan and Eritrea, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Haiti, Iran and Yemen, from ever stepping in the US.

Speaking from the White House, Trump said he decided to take such a drastic step in response to acts of terrorism, and to step up American security.

In addition, the US President also imposed a boycott on Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela, with their citizens wishing to travel to the US undergoing a mandatory thorough scrutiny.

According to a White House statement aired by BBC, the presidential directive also has much to do with nationals from those countries who, on getting to the US, hide on expiry of their visas, while others remain there beyond the time stipulated in their visas. It is also related to the turmoil and state of unrest in their various countries.

On the ban on foreign students, Trump argued that many on getting to the US get diverted from studies and get involved in other matters including revolting over political issues. He gave a sixty-day ultimatum for fulfilment of this.

He pointed an accusing finger at universities especially Havard which he blames for training foreigners including Chinese who he says are not friendly with the US.

Management of Havard University defied an order for banning enrolment of foreign nationals, which led to a cut in government funding to this university.
