His death has prompted calls for the police to work closely with Kyambogo University to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Kyambogo University is mourning the death of Okia Aaron, a third-year Bachelor of Business Administration student, who was found dead several days after he was reported missing.
Aaron, whose registration number was 24/U/BKE/10979/PE, was reported missing earlier in the week. A missing person appeal circulated widely among students and on social media from Monday, stating that he had last been seen that day and urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward. Family and friends said they were deeply concerned for his safety as the search intensified.
Days later, Aaron’s body was recovered. According to those close to the case, it bore visible signs of assault, raising concerns that he may have been attacked before his death. Authorities have not yet publicly confirmed the cause of death.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Okia Aaron… May his soul rest in eternal peace,” read a statement shared by family and friends.
His death has prompted calls for the police to work closely with Kyambogo University to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
The incident has also reignited public debate over citizen safety in Uganda, with many social media users urging authorities to strengthen efforts to protect the public from violent crime and improve security for ordinary citizens.
