Continuous police operations in Kampala Metropolitan Area have rounded up and produced in court over 140 suspected perpetrators of crimes, and criminal bases in Kampala, Mukono and Wakiso districts were dismantled in the process; the exercise is part of stepped-up efforts to restore public order and ensuring the safety of residents across the region.
The operations were carried out in identified black spots known for harbouring law breakers engaged in activities such as narcotic substance abuse, robberies, and other crimes.

In Mukono police Division, the co-ordinated operations were conducted in Goma Division where 9 suspects were picked from Jjoggo trading centre, Nama sub-county where 12 were picked from Walusubi centre, 12 from Wantoni, Benghazi and Kitega cells, 9 from Namuyenje in Nakisunga sub-county and 10 were picked from Namawojjolo, Namataba, and Walusubi.

In Kiyinda zone of Kira Municipality, Kira Division Police arrested 9 suspects from a home where narcotic substances were being sold and consumed. Police recovered 11 bundles of rolled substances suspected to be narcotics. The suspects are detained pending prosecution.
And in Nansana Division an operation conducted under Wamala Police Post led to the arrest of eight suspects from Wamala, Kasumba, Kalanzi, Kinyarwanda and Tabba sub-zones; they were found with suspected narcotic substances and were arraigned in court, while operations conducted in Thailand, Katogo and Kaggo areas of Kinnawattaka led to the arrest of 16 suspects who were also charged with unlawful possession of narcotics and being a public nuisance.
Meanwhile, Old Kampala Division conducted two separate operations in Nakulabye and Kisenyi, where 48 suspects were apprehended.
