A 30-year old woman of Kisoga village, Nazigo sub-county in Kayunga district who claims her newly found husband attempted to fleece her of her wealth collected over a 7-year period in Saudi Arabia and Oman, has laid bare her relationship with the man who lured her into marriage with the intention of stealing her money.
The duo recently separated in a marriage that lasted only three months, but which period was long enough for Sofia Nakafeero to realize her husband Hadad Lugoloobi’s deceitful ways by attempting to convince her into selling a house built from her ‘kyeeyo’ sweat.

Nakafeero’s story in details:
In 2006 I proceeded to Saudi Arabia leaving behind my two children and on starting to work, I started collecting money for building a house to accommodate them and paying for their school fees since we had separated with their dad. I currently stay in this house.
After three years, I relocated to Oman and Dubai and collected money which I came back with on my return in 2024. The hardships encountered by girls working in Arab countries are many and varied and it is a big sacrifice to work there.
After constructing my house, I set up a retail shop in Kisoga trading centre in Kayunga district. This is where I was confronted by Hadaad Lugoloobi who proposed to me and because I had no engagement with any man, I accepted.
We immediately began making preparations for the introduction and wedding but three days into the function, he told me had run out of money and wanted a loan of sh3.5m for finalization of the arrangement. Because I feared embarrassment in my family, I yielded and gave him the money.
Earlier, he had convinced me into giving him sh5m to purchase a plot and sell it at a bigger price, but when I started asking him for repayment, he turned bitter and started threatening me with death. At the wedding, he failed to raise sh150,000 for the ‘amahare’ (Islamic law prescribes payment of some money to the bride by the groom). I accepted to go with him even without this money because I had sunk a lot of money in the arrangement.
We then hired a room at Kyampisi and set up a shop, with all commodities supplied by myself. I slowly started realizing that he was a liar who had fed me with a lot of lies, including the fact that he had not built a house for his first wife as he had told me, but that she was also staying in a rented room.
When I realized I was in danger I separated with him and packed all my property including the shop wares, all this in his presence. He however told people that I had stolen his property and that he wanted a refund of his property he gave to my parents at the introduction valued at shs20m.
He was especially bitter because I refused to sell my house and I bitterly regret the day I accepted to accommodate this man into my heart, because he turned into an embarrassment to me.
His mother in-law Fahima Nankwanga said they realized later that the man was a lumpen when he started making public misunderstandings they used to develop with his wife in the three months they were married.
However, Lugoloobi insists that he wants a return of his property or a refund in monetary terms amounting to sh20m.
