Minister Balaam Orders Arrest of Town Clerk Over Alleged Sh28m Land Purchase Fraud

Balaam ordered security agencies to arrest the Assistant Town Clerk and investigate the circumstances surrounding the land transaction to establish accountability and recover any misappropriated public funds.

The Minister for Local Government, Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi, has ordered the arrest of the Assistant Town Clerk of Namisindwa Town Council, Samuel Kobe, over allegations of causing financial loss to the government through an inflated land purchase.

The directive follows allegations that Kobe authorized or claimed to have purchased land intended for the construction of Luwa Town Council offices at a cost of sh40m.

However, local leaders have disputed the transaction, alleging that the land’s actual purchase price was sh12m, raising concerns that the government may have lost sh28m through the deal.

According to the minister, the discrepancy points to possible fraud and abuse of public funds, warranting immediate investigations and legal action against those responsible.
