Uganda Martyrs’ Namiryango Junior Boys School in Mukono Municipality on Sunday celebrated the victory achieved from last year’s Primary Leaving Examinations results.
The school headteacher, Sr. Immaculate Leticia Nabukalu said that out of 179 candidates that sat for PLE, 178 passed in first grade. Out of those, Sr. Nabukalu revealed that 10 candidates scored aggregate four.
The celebrations were characterized by the thanksgiving mass led by Fr. Ibrahim Kafeero, the school chaplain.
Fr. Kafeero was in accompany of Fr. Ignatius Kivumbi, the Parish Priest of Namiryango Parish and Fr. Gerald Bwenvu, the education secretary of Lugazi Diocese.
The mass was attended by the pupils, members of the school management committee, parents, education leaders from Mukono Municipality and the district, among other dignitaries.
In his homily, Fr. Kafeero said they had gathered to thank God for the good performance registered by the boys from last year’s PLE results. He thanked the teachers, administration and everyone who had a stake in the outstanding performance.
After the mass, the school band ushered the visitors into the colorful thanksgiving celebrations.
Last years’ candidates who already joined secondary schools testified saying that the care, the soft touch of the teachers and the God centered education rendered to them are among the many reasons for their success.
Olivia Bulya, the Mukono Municipality principal inspector of schools congratulated Sr. Nabukalu for her tireless efforts to uplift the education standards in Mukono Municipality and the country at large.
The school management committee members that include; Vincent Balaza and Gerald Muguluma also congratulated the headteacher and the teachers for enabling the pupils to pass highly.
The over joyous parents thanked the staff of Namiryango Junior Boys for grooming their children into responsible citizens.
The Mukono Municipality deputy town clerk Majerani Luboyera revealed plans of the municipality to develop the area in terms of education, health and other infrastructures.
Majerani awarded Sr. Immaculate Nabukalu with a certificate in appreciation of her dedication to promoting education. The best learners from last year’s candidates were rewarded with gifts.
At this function, retiring teachers Richard Isooba and Simon Peter Alimu were also rewarded for their dedicated service in their profession.
Teachers who teach different subjects received different rewards as a token of appreciation.
