The vehicles, which had remained at the former Speaker’s residence after her departure from office, were reportedly driven back to Parliament today on Thursday May 21.

All official parliamentary vehicles that had been stationed at the Nakasero residence of former Speaker Anita Annet Among have been withdrawn and returned to the Parliament parking yard, sources have confirmed.

The move is understood to be part of an administrative handover process involving government property attached to the Office of the Speaker. The vehicles, which had remained at the former Speaker’s residence after her departure from office, were reportedly driven back to Parliament today on Thursday May 21.

Parliament officials have not yet issued a formal statement on the development, but insiders say the exercise was aimed at accounting for and reassigning official vehicles in line with institutional procedures.

The number and type of vehicles returned were not immediately disclosed.

The development comes amid heightened public interest in the transition within Parliament leadership and the management of state resources assigned to top government officials.

Among faces ongoing investigations into allegations of illicit enrichment, money laundering, and abuse of office. Authorities are said to be probing her financial dealings as part of a wider anti-corruption inquiry involving senior public officials.

In recent operations, joint security forces comprising police and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) reportedly raided and sealed off several of her properties. The searches covered residences in Kampala, including Nakasero and Kigo, as well as her country home in Bukedea District.

During the operations, officials are said to have seized luxury assets, including high-end vehicles such as a Rolls-Royce Cullinan and multiple Range Rovers, alongside recovered documents and cash.

Her parliamentary office was also cordoned off by detectives, who moved to secure the premises to prevent any possible interference with evidence as investigations continue.

The pressure on the former Speaker coincided with a major political shift, after she reportedly withdrew her bid to retain the Speakership of the 12th Parliament. Sources indicate the decision followed a meeting with President Yoweri Museveni at State House, though no official statement has been released detailing the discussions.

Separately, reports indicate that Among is subject to international restrictions, including sanctions imposed by the United Kingdom and the United States. The measures are understood to include travel bans and the freezing of certain foreign-linked assets, further complicating her legal and financial standing.
