KAMPALA — Police at Old Kampala have arrested eight suspects allegedly linked to a viral social media video in which a group of about six individuals are seen boasting about carrying out violent attacks on members of the public.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala, the suspects allegedly claim in the video to have attacked several victims, leaving some with broken jaws and teeth.
The group also allegedly demands that dentists share money earned from treating victims of the attacks and threatens to target medical practitioners who fail to comply with their demands.
Kawala said the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation conducted on September 8, 2026, at Gojo Gym in Namungoona, Lubya Parish, Rubaga Division, Kampala District.

Eight suspects were arrested during the operation, four of whom are allegedly seen in the viral video.
The suspects have been identified as Matiti Mohammed, alias Beast-Commander; Nurudin Kasule, alias 2 I/C; Umar Mubiru; Lukooya Adams; Kiyimba Martin; Alinda Yosam Junior; Walumu James; and Elvis Simanya.
Police said preliminary investigations indicate that the gym was allegedly being used as a meeting point by the suspects under the guise of boxing training.
The suspects are further being investigated over their alleged involvement in a range of violent criminal activities, including robbery, housebreaking, theft, phone snatching, use of deadly weapons and unlawful possession of narcotic substances.
Kawala said the last four suspects were found at the gym, with some allegedly found in possession of suspected narcotic substances.

The suspects are currently being held in police custody pending court proceedings.
Police said efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest other individuals allegedly appearing in the viral video and establish their possible involvement in the reported criminal activities.
The public has also been urged to provide police with any information that could help identify other suspects or victims connected to the incidents.
Police emphasised that investigations are still ongoing and the suspects will be subject to due process before the courts of law.
