The Ministry of Health has confirmed two new cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), raising fresh concerns as health authorities move swiftly to contain any possible spread of the deadly virus.

According to a statement released by the Office of the Director General of Health Services on Monday, the two patients are Ugandan health workers employed at a private medical facility in Kampala.

Officials said both individuals were identified after presenting symptoms associated with Ebola and have since been transferred to a designated treatment unit where they are currently receiving specialized medical care.

Health response teams have already begun tracing and monitoring all individuals who may have come into contact with the confirmed patients. Authorities say the rapid response is intended to prevent further transmission within the community and healthcare settings.

The Ministry urged the public to remain calm but vigilant, emphasizing the importance of early reporting and treatment. Citizens have been advised to immediately notify the nearest health facility if anyone develops symptoms such as fever, vomiting, unexplained bleeding, weakness, or severe headache.

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry, Director General of Health Services Dr. Charles Olaro reaffirmed the government’s commitment to containing the outbreak and protecting public health.

He noted that surveillance teams, laboratory experts, and emergency response personnel have been deployed to strengthen monitoring efforts in Kampala and surrounding areas.

Uganda has previously experienced several Ebola outbreaks and has developed emergency response systems aimed at quickly isolating cases and limiting community spread. Public health experts say early detection, isolation, and community cooperation remain critical in controlling the disease.

Authorities are expected to provide further updates as investigations and contact tracing continue.
