Speaking about her family, Halima said the children are thriving and full of energy. She also revealed that they will soon begin school—an important next step in their development.
The world’s first surviving nonuplets (9 children given birth at once) have marked their fifth birthday, with Guinness World Records (GWR) celebrating the remarkable milestone.
In a post shared on its official X account on Monday, GWR highlighted the anniversary of the nine children—four boys, Mohammed VI, Elhadji, Oumar, and Bah, and five girls, Kadidia, Fatouma, Hawa, Adama, and Oumou.
The nonuplets were born on May 4, 2021, in Morocco to Malian parents, Halima Cissé and Abdelkader Arby. They hold the world record for the most children delivered in a single birth to survive.

To commemorate the occasion, Halima shared new photos of the children, showing how much they have grown. Now 30, she was already a mother to a seven-year-old daughter before the historic birth, bringing her total number of children to ten.
Speaking about her family, Halima said the children are thriving and full of energy. She also revealed that they will soon begin school—an important next step in their development.
“The children are doing very well, Alhamdulillah. They are healthy, active, and full of joy,” she said. “They will begin school soon, which is an exciting stage for all of us as a family.”
She described the close bond among the siblings, noting that they spend most of their time playing together with their older sister, despite occasional minor disagreements typical among children. According to her, each child has a distinct personality—some lively and expressive, others calm and observant.

The nonuplets’ journey began with uncertainty. Initially, doctors believed Halima was expecting seven babies. However, after she was transferred to a specialist clinic in Morocco, it was discovered she was carrying nine. Each baby weighed between 0.5 and 1 kilogram at birth.
They spent 19 months in Morocco receiving medical care before returning home, capturing global attention and continuing to inspire people worldwide.
The children also share the overall record for most babies delivered in a single birth with Geraldine Brodrick. However, in that earlier case, none of the infants survived, making Halima Cissé’s nonuplets the first to all live beyond infancy.
