The Inspectorate of Government (IGG) has arrested a primary school teacher in Sironko District for allegedly impersonating another person for more than three decades using a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) issued in the victim’s name.
The suspect, identified as Godfrey Namasake, a teacher at Budadiri Girls Primary School, is expected to be arraigned before the Sironko Court today, according to the Inspectorate of Government.
In a statement, the IGG said investigations conducted by its Mbale Regional Office established that Namasake had allegedly been falsely representing himself as Christopher Lutukayi since September 1, 1995.

The investigations further indicate that he allegedly used a UCE certificate issued by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) in Lutukayi’s name to assume the identity.
The circumstances under which the alleged impersonation was discovered, as well as whether the suspect obtained any benefits through the alleged deception, were not immediately disclosed.
The suspect is expected to appear in court to answer to the allegations.
Namasake remains a suspect, and the allegations against him are subject to determination by the courts of law.
