Investigations into the alleged misuse of public funds in Namisindwa District are still ongoing, with authorities revealing that they are searching for the District Engineer, the District Commercial Officer, and the District Production Officer, who are also wanted in connection with the probe.
The Engineer of Lwakhakha Town Council in Namisindwa District has been arrested after allegedly fleeing to Kenya to evade an accountability inspection into the management of public funds.
According to a statement released on Wednesday, by the Minister for Local Government, Balaam Barugahara, the engineer was apprehended through a joint operation involving several Ugandan security agencies after reportedly going into hiding over allegations of mismanagement of road maintenance funds.
Authorities said the arrest was made possible through the coordinated efforts of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU), the Internal Security Organisation (ISO), the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), the Uganda Police Force, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), and other security agencies.

Balaam commended the security agencies for what they described as professionalism and swift action in tracking down and arresting the suspect. They also acknowledged the support of the armed forces under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, in the ongoing anti-corruption operations.
