Community leaders in Lwengo say Nantalea has become a local attraction, with curious residents frequently visiting her home to witness the unusual grave and hear her story firsthand.
Residents of Bulasana Village in Lwengo District have been left shocked and amused after a 100-year-old woman, Dorothy Nantalea, constructed her own grave and declared that she is ready to occupy it while still alive.
Nantalea, who says she has lived a full and satisfying life, reportedly decided to prepare for her final journey in an unusual way by personally supervising the construction of her grave at her home.
Speaking to residents, the centenarian said she does not want to burden relatives with funeral expenses after her death. She instead appealed to friends, family members, and well-wishers to begin sending condolence money to her now so that she can use the contributions to complete the grave and make other burial preparations.

“I want to see and appreciate the people helping me before I die,” Nantalea reportedly said, attracting laughter and curiosity from members of the community.
Her actions have sparked mixed reactions among residents, with some describing the move as practical planning while others view it as strange and unsettling.

Despite her age, Nantalea is said to remain mentally alert and actively involved in conversations with neighbours, many of whom admire her openness about death and burial preparations.
