Fraudsters Trick Housemaid, Steal Sh10 Million, Pistol and Three TV Sets

The theft was executed after the suspects allegedly convinced the housemaid that they had been sent by the homeowner to collect a faulty television set for repair. Believing the story, the maid allowed them into the house.

Once inside, the suspects allegedly stole three television sets, sh10m in cash, a CCTV digital video recorder (DVR), a mobile phone, and a metallic safe containing the pistol. The stolen items were then loaded into a white Toyota Noah before the suspects fled.

Police had earlier visited and documented the crime scene, launching investigations that have now resulted in the arrests and recovery of key exhibits.

Investigators say efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals believed to have participated in the theft and to recover the remaining stolen property.

The Uganda Police Force has urged homeowners and domestic workers to exercise greater caution and always verify instructions directly with property owners before allowing unfamiliar individuals into their homes.

Police warned that criminals are increasingly using deception and impersonation to gain access to residences, emphasizing that heightened vigilance remains one of the most effective ways of preventing such crimes.
